Finding the perfect location to go on holiday as a family can be difficult. It is always tricky to find a location that offers a range of activities that the whole family can enjoy. Guernsey is a great choice for families due to the wide range of activities on offer and the fact it is only a short flight or ferry journey away from mainland UK. The hotels and restaurants in Guernsey are all well geared towards families and children.
To help you out on planning your holiday I am going to through 5 of my favorite activities to do during your family holiday in Guernsey. From admiring the fish in the local aquarium to spending a fun filled day at the beach, Guernsey has something to offer every family.
The Aquarium in Guernsey is housed in La Vallatte tunnel and is fun for all the family. There are over 24 stunning displays that range from tropical marine fish to European fresh water fish and, of course, local sea fish. What is even more exciting is that the fish are fed 3 times a day, this is great to watch and always gets the kids excited.
This really is good fun for the children, upon entering they will feel like they are king or queen of a real castle. The best thing about Castle Cornet is that once inside you are free to wonder around at your leisure. You can visit one of the five fantastic museums, admire the view across the harbor and town or simply soak up the ancient atmosphere. You can just sit back and smile as you watch your children discover an imaginary world while exploring this ancient castle.
Day at the Beach
Guernsey plays host to 27 beaches, meaning none are ever over crowded like many of the mainland UK beach resorts. There is nothing better to do on a lovely summers day than to grab some beach towels, a fishing net and a bucket and spade then head down to the beach. Enjoy some local ice cream from one of the many beach cafes or perhaps sample the famous Guernsey Gauche. A day at the beach is a time for the family to come together, bond and have fun.
In the north of the island you will find Oatlands Village standing as a reminder of the thriving brick making industry that once existed in Guernsey. There are lots of fun activities for the kids here including outdoor trampolines, a mine race track, crazy golf and an indoor play area. For the grown ups there are a few shops to look around as well as a restaurant that serves great food.
Walking through Bluebell Woods in the spring time is like being transported to a far away mystical land. The natural beauty and bluebell covered woodland floor will enchant the whole family and. A fantastic wind down location for all to enjoy.
