A Guide To The Best Beaches In Menorca

The word ‘holiday’ can mean a variety of things to different people. Some like to dance all night and drink their body weight, others like to laze around on sandy beaches sipping tropical drinks. Some like to take in the surroundings and learn a bit about the culture or history of their destination. Families often have a difficult decision when they’re deciding on their next holiday,  what do they want to do and what will suit everyone?

However, there is one place that will fulfil everybody’s needs. This may seem like a typical holiday destination, but Menorca offers a great nightlife, culture, art, architecture, history and glorious beaches, literally something for everyone.

There’s no denying that amongst it’s many assets, Menorca has some of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean. There are more than 100 beaches on the island all owned by the state, so there’s actually no such thing as a private beach.

Here’s a quick guide on some of the best family-friendly beaches you can find.

Cala Galdana

Considered to be one of the top resort beaches on the entire island, Cala Galdana is a favourite amongst families. This horseshoe-shaped beach, surrounded by towering cliffs is a Blue Flag beach, this means it is very warm and has shallow waters, making it perfect for small children.  A lot of people enjoy swimming and snorkelling, as the water is so clear it’s a beautiful adventure to see the depth of the ocean. Only a short drive away, there’s also the water park and a mini golf course for everyone to enjoy.

Punta Prima

Located on the south coast, this is a large child-friendly beach that features shallow, inviting waters. You’ll be pleased to know that there’s a special reserved area for families with babies and toddlers, along with ramps and walkways for you to push prams and other things. There are plenty of restaurants located just right next to the beach, as well as supermarkets for other essential things. If you still want to go on a little adventure, you can take a boat and travel across around the Mahon Harbour, there’s also great Kayak excursions for the older teenagers at adults.

Playa Cavalleria

This popular unspoilt resort features double horseshoe coves with red sand beaches. It is a very popular resort for those wishing to relax with their family. There’s a car park located nearby for the convenience of those travelling with children, and all umbrellas and sunbeds can be rented so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own.

Menorca holidays are  the perfect way to spend quality time with our family. You can choose from the wide selection of apartments in Menorca situated right in the centre, on the beachfront and in the mountains. No matter where you decide to stay, your family is just a stones throw away from the gorgeous beaches, local cuisine, historical sites and museums, water parks and elegant scenery. There’s really something for everyone to enjoy here in sunny Menorca.
