Keep the kids minds off a divorce and take a holiday

Divorce can be a stressful time for the entire family. While you and your ex are getting advice on divorce and dealing with the legal proceedings, your kids may be feeling confused, upset, or even a little neglected. Help get their minds off the divorce by taking them on holiday with you. Here are some suggestions about where to go and what to do to have a fun-filled holiday with the kids.

Copenhagen, Denmark

This vibrant Scandinavian city has a lot to offer kids of all ages. If you’ve got little ones in tow, pay homage to The Little Mermaid statue and plan a day trip to wander around the multicoloured, life-size structures at Legoland. If you’ve got slightly older children, pay a visit to the grand Tivoli Gardens and the enchanting Rosenborg Castle.

Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida

If you truly want to create an enchanting experience for the kids, plan a holiday to the “most magical place on Earth.” There, your kids will have the opportunity to meet their favorite Disney characters and explore each of the six theme parks and water parks. You can visit Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom with your little princess, dare to ride the Tower of Terror, or go on an open air safari to encounter exotic African wildlife. Want a place to beat the Orlando heat? Head to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.

Ayia Napa, Cyprus

While there’s no denying that Ayia Napa is a premiere party spot for twenty-some things, the resort offers a surprising range of activities for families as well. Your kids will be thrilled to spend a day splashing around Europe’s largest water park—Water world Water park—or going on the carnival rides at ParkoPaliatso Luna Park. Board one of Ayia Napa’s famous themed boats for a tour of the Mediterranean and some great entertainment; the Disney-themed Nemo Adventure Tour and pirate-themed Black Pearl are two family favorites. If you want to spend some time at the beach, check out the family-friendly Sandy Beach or Grecian Bay Beach.

Princes’ Islands, Turkey

If you’re looking for an old-fashioned getaway, take the kids on holiday to the Princes’ Islands in Turkey. Since cars are banned on each of the nine islands, horse-drawn carriages are a popular means for getting around and exploring the local sights and attractions. Pay a visit to the largest island, Buyukada, to check out the ancient churches, monasteries, and mosques, or to spend an afternoon playing with your kids on one of the island’s public beaches.

Brussels, Belgium

The capital city of Belgium makes for a great city break with the kids. There, you’ll find a number of museums that the kids will adore. At the Comic Strip Centre, little boys will get the chance to explore the creation of their favorite comic strips and characters, while at Auto world; they’ll see a wonderful assortment of historic cars. Check out the interactive exhibits at the Museum of Musical Instruments, or enjoy the free samples at the Museum of Cocoa and Chocolate. Head to the Atomium and Mini Europe for a fun-filled afternoon with the kids, and don’t forget to say hello to Manneken-Pis before you head back home.
